Picture you, your spouse and your children packing up all your possessions and traveling miles and miles by foot or vehicle just trying to keep your family alive. Now picture having to live in a refugee camp in a tent for an undetermined amount of time with little to no food, water, or supplies available to you. This is what is happening at this moment in Pakistan. There are approximately 3 million displaced refugees in the Swat Valley and the Waziristan regions. These are the Northwest regions in Pakistan. Officials say many of the
se people will not be able to return to their homes until March of 2010. The UN warns that Swat Valley could be the worst refugee crisis since Rwanda. Hundreds of thousands of people have been sheltering in refugee camps since fleeing their homes. Most others are literally squeezed into the homes of friends or relatives, with as many as 85 people in one house. My mind can't even comprehend that.
GMA is partnering with Interfaith Council for Peace & Harmony in Lahore, Pakistan to help bring relief in the midst of dire circumstances to these refugees. At this time, it is impossible for non-Muslim relief organizations to enter the Swat Valley or the Waziristan area, where mostly women and children have been displaced in the past few weeks due to the unrest in this nation in great turmoil. The Mualana, who I have built a relationship with over the last 13 years, (you can read
more about him in our recent Pakistan Trip Report included in this mailing), is the Director of Interfaith Council for Peace and Harmony and will take in food, tents, medicine, as well as Christian printed materials in the name of Jesus that we provide him. He has the elite police force of Pakistan at his disposable as to ensure all the relief goods arrive safely.
There are moments in life when God's voice is so loud it is impossible to hear anything else. This is one of those times. Since returning from Pakistan my mind is overwhelmed, but my spirit is soaring because of all the Kingdom Gates Father God is opening to us in Pakistan and around the world.
Right now there is a Kairos moment taking place over the nation of Pakistan and we have an opportunity to make a HUGE impact on the descendants of Ishmael and show them the love of the Father who gave his Son to save them. Did you know that Ishmael means "GOD HEARS?" The Father, who is the author of love, hears the cries of his sons and daughters in exile. We too hear the cries and we will respond in love with tangible expressions of the love of the Father.
