GMA International Ministry Team Ready to Bring Help to the Philippines

GMA has an international ministry team leaving for the Philippines on November 30th. As a team, we are very excited to minister to the Filipino people and see the Kingdom of God expand and bring transformation. Yet, our hearts are heavy as we watch the news and see the Philippines continue to get pounded by typhoon after typhoon. In light of this, we are now making relief operations part of our ministry time in the Philippines and we need your help to increase the impact.

In the past month, three typhoons, Ondoy, Parma and Lupit have hit the Philippines with another one, Typhoon Mirinae, expected to hit Friday, October 30th. Two of these typhoons hit the islands within two weeks of each other. When the first typhoon hit, the equivalent cuba hurricane 3of one month's worth of rain fell on Manila and its neighboring provinces, including Los BaƱos, in less than a day. These are the two locations where we will be ministering. The rainfall was comparable to the devastation that came to New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005. In a half an hour's time, water was either knee or chest deep. Before the storm was over, many houses were submerged, leaving rooftops now to become the floors of these homes. At one point, 80% of the capital city of Manila was under water.

7 million people have been affected by these storms with more than 600,000 forcefully evacuated from their homes. The damage from just one of these typhoons has been estimated at $803 million. Health officials are now concerned for the outbreak of waterborne cuba hurricane 3diseases and say that as many as 1.7 million people living in and around Manila are at risk.

Much devastation has come to this country in the past month and our team wants to be used as an instrument of love to these people by bringing aid relief with us when we arrive. There are also a number of Destiny Ministries International (DMI, the ministry we work with in the Philippines) families who have been severely affected by this calamity. There is an overwhelming need for clean water, medicine, clothes and food, as these storms have devastated businesses, properties, and crops.

The DMI family has already been hard at work helping their fellow Filipinos, but we want to maximize their efforts by bringing in reinforcments when our team arrives. We want to touch as many philippines typhoon pic 4lives as we can for God's glory and for His Kingdom! Paul Yadao, the Father of DMI, says, " We are destined to co-labor with the Almighty One in places of brokenness and great need bringing the Good News of the Kingdom. Our Destiny is to be like Him- as HE IS so ARE WE in this world! David was faithful in his generation. Now it's our turn."

This is an opportunity for us as the children of God to demonstrate the Kingdom of God in a tangible, practical way to our broken fellow brothers and sisters. Please help us in this effort to bring relief aid to the Philippines. We are currently raising relief funds to take with us on November 30th and to send over a container full of supplies to help the typhoon victims.
