Jesus - Democrat, Republican or Revolutionary

ok, so this blog is somewhat of a response to a friend's post, although not directly. i feel she raises a couple questions that i know i have asked myself and i'm sure others have too.
here is part of her blog:
"i am not sure, but i don't think that Jesus would have wasted time on searching candiates or debating issues. Jesus cared about the souls of the people who he came in contact with. i don't think Jesus would have been a republican or a democrat. i am not sure he would have bothered. i could be wrong."
well, this is my response:
the thing about Jesus....well, he was the best at debating issues....a walking debate, if you will, that challenged a religious and political system and turned it upside down like no person had ever done or has done to that degree since. every gathering, every "sermon," every woman he spoke to, every healing and miracle he performed was all a response in direct opposition and a living debate of what the religious and political systems of the times were saying and doing.
it's true that Jesus did care about the souls of the people he came in contact with, but i believe that isn't the full picture of what he came to do.....that picture is too small. Jesus cared about saving people, the sozo meaning...saving, delivering, healing (not just their soul). it's not just the gospel of salvation but the gospel of the kingdom.....bringing the kingdom of heaven to earth. he cared about changing a religious system that was robbing people and particularly women and gentiles of having an intimate relationship with their God. he cared about changing the world....that's what he came to do and he did it.
now, do I think that Jesus would be a republican or a democrat.....not really....i think he was and would belong to the Jesus political and religious party....now that's a party i can get excited about.
if we don't vote, if we are not active in the world, we might as well give up and give the earth over to Satan and go to heaven right now.....because whatever areas the people of God do not occupy the enemy will move right into. as for me, i'm not ready and willing to do that yet. much of what we are dealing with right now in this country is because God-loving people have checked out of the system (political, religous, school board, dance, music, the arts etc.) and the system has been handed over to the enemy. well, i'm not about to give up the fight. Jesus said, "from the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing. and forceful men take hold of it."
it's time for another Jesus Revolution that turns this world's political and religious systems upside down. through this revolution "Jesus is doing something so powerful and dangerous that only those who are willing to embrace it with forceful intensity may take hold of the movement of God's kingdom. the Jesus Revolution isn't for the faint of heart or the middle-of-the-road. it isn't safe. it isn't comfortable. it costs us a great deal to say yes." who wants to join me?
