Faith is spelled R-I-S-K

many years ago a great preacher named John Wimber said that faith is spelled r-i-s-k. i know in the last several years i have realized more and more how much this is true. if there is not some element of risk involved can you really call it faith? i mean if everything is always all figured out and squared away before you step out into something can you really call that faith? i don't think so. (of course this doesn't mean you shouldn't make plans or be wise, i'm trying to make a point.) well, yesterday i had a faith crisis. i am going on mission trip oct.14th and received a phone call that i needed to book my room and ticket immediately because there were only 3 left and that's how many we needed. needless to say, i was not expecting to have to "pay" for the trip until next week. i immediately went info freak out mode because i don't have any money at the moment. after several hours of being depressed and questioning everything, and yes, praying i figured out a way to get everything booked. the RISK is, i still do not have the money. i know some might see me as foolish, but i know that God has given me a responsibility to go on this trip, and i also know that between now and oct. 4th Daddy will provide the finances i need. ok, crisis over....i am back in the faith mode.
i found this quote on another site that i would like to include in this blog:
"Where there is no longer any opportunity for doubt, there is no longer any opportunity for faith either." -- Paul Tournier
