South Africa...Here I Come!

On June 12, 2007, while in Cuba with MIA, the Lord began to speak to me about Africa, which seemed strange. At the time we were ministering in an outdoor mission church and Leanne asked us to go before the Lord and talk to him about our desires. All of the sudden I found myself sobbing and crying out to the Lord. My spirit was crying out to him telling him, “God, I want the children of Africa. I want the children of Africa. I will take them all. God, if no one else wants them, I want them!” Then I heard him say in a still small voice that I would go to every nation in Africa. Wow, that is overwhelming to say the least. I don’t know exactly what that looks like, but I know that he has a plan and as he reveals it to me piece by piece I will follow where he leads. After returning home from Cuba in June I began transitioning from Leanne’s assistant to being MIA’s representative to Africa. I have been training someone else to take over my former responsibilities so I can focus more on the Kenya Project and other things God is leading me to regarding Africa. As some of you have heard, MIA will be relocating their home office to Alabama in January. I will not be going to Alabama, however, I will continue to be a part of MIA as a representative to Africa, helping with the Kenya Project, and periodically assisting to lead mission teams.

Several months ago I came across an article about an Africa Orphan Care Project that Blessman Medical Ministries (BMM) and Reaching a Generation (RaG) have started in South Africa. I felt a prompting to find out more about this. As I learned more about the orphan care project and the model being used to care for the orphans I was very impressed. I believe the Lord has given them a great blueprint. Immediately, I brought all of this to the Lord in prayer. He soon told me to go to South Africa to work with BMM and RaG and learn what they are doing with the orphan care project. (For more information about this project go to: www.blessmanmedicalministries.org)

I have been invited by Dr. Blessman to join Jerry & Karen Holte, who will be overseeing the project in South Africa. My plan is to be in South Africa for five to six months to help work with the orphan care project. So, ready or not South Africa….here I come! My heart leaps with excitement to return to Africa. It is my desire to learn the model they are using and apply it to Kenya and other places throughout Africa as the Lord leads me.
