what's in a name?

what's in a name? well, a lot actually. in old testament times jewish people would not name their children until they could see what their dispositions were like (sometimes i think this could take up to a year), and then they would give them a name that affirmed who they were and was a prophetic declaration of who they would become.

friday night i was at The Well at Khop and as i was worshipping the lover of my soul i heard him give me the name of the children's center in Kenya. i had thought of a clever name a few months ago, but as i was pondering it this last week, it just didn't seem to fit and i became dissatisfied with it. well, this was just one thing that brought me to my knees this week about this project. he is so wonderful and so faithful and cares about every detail. i know i need to ask his advice more for every detail. it's so easy to get caught up in trying to do everything on your own, but i digress. that is a whole other topic.

so, the name He gave me for the center is Abba's House, beautiful isn't it? i love it. i knew there was a wonderful scripture that went with this so when i returned home i looked it up. it is from romans 8:15-17 "15 So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father. For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. 17 And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering."

the children at this center will receive the Spirit of Adoption and become children of God, no longer orphans, but sons and daughters, heirs receiving their inheritence of the kingdom of God. hallelujah!
