My 30th Birthday in Cuba! (Cuba June 07)

Wow, 30! It's official. I turned 30 on June 13th and Daddy God blessed me with such a special birthday in Cuba. It was awesome!
A couple months before I turned 30 I was starting to think....whoa 30 that sounds old.....makes me kinda nervous. Now that I am 30, I am excited to be in this phase of my life. My twenties, as I think it was for most, was exploring and learning who I was in this world and in Christ. I have figured out a few things by now, but by no means have it all figured out yet. However, I am now excited to see what my thirties will bring. I feel such a maturing in the Lord and feel like 30 is a significant number for me. I can't really put it all into words, but I know this has marked something important in my life.
Ok, back to my special day when I turned 30! I was awakened by a knock at my hotel room door and when I opened it up there were about 6-8 team members seranading me with "Happy Birthday." We had the morning off on Wednesday so most of the team took a bus tour of Varadero to tour the penisula. On the walk to the bus stop I knew we would be passing by a tree that has my absolute favorite flower on it. I don't know what it is called, but it is what they make lays out of in Hawaii. Anyway, I asked one of my tall friends if she would grab a flower for me because I knew I would be too short to reach it. However, as we got closer it was clear the limbs were much higher than I had thought and it was way too high even for her to reach. But just as I was passing under the tree one flower fell right in my path in front of me. Thank you Daddy.....my very favorite flower just for me on my birthday. Then on part of the bus tour as we were passing a bay, I looked and saw two dolphins jump up out of the water. Sweet! I knew that there were dolphins around the island, but in all of our trips there none of us had ever seen any in person. Leanne treated me to a special lunch. In the evening we were ministering in a church and worship was really great that night. Leanne got up to preach and then pulled me up there.....she then proceeded to tell the congregation that it was a special day for me.....it was my birthday. Then the band and the congregation sang a special Spanish birthday song to me (this was not just Happy Birthday in Spanish), then they even sang Happy Birthday to me in English (the ones that could speak English). It was such a very special day and I thank everyone who made me feel extra special on my 30th birthday.

That's me on my birthday on the tour bus with
my favorite flower in my ear.

Me enjoying drinking a coconut with the MIA team on our day off.
(We are in the backyard of Al Capone's estate in Cuba; I think I could handle a back yard that looked like that.)
